lenin-wood-marquetry-portrait-soviet-propaganda-art
Lenin Wood Marquetry Portrait – Soviet Propaganda Art Intarsia Wall Panel

This piece of Soviet propaganda art is an original handcrafted portrait of Vladimir Lenin made in the marquetry (intarsia) technique. It is not a painting: the image is assembled from various shades and textures of natural wood veneers inlaid into a solid wooden base. The stylized, high-contrast profile of Lenin is typical of 1960s–70s Soviet monumental art.

Item Details

Subject: Vladimir Lenin (profile portrait)

Type: Wall art panel

Technique: Marquetry / intarsia

Material: Wood – multi-wood veneer inlay on a solid wooden base

Style: Socialist Realism / Mid-Century Modern

Dimensions: Approx. 40 x 38 cm (15.7 x 15 in)

Thickness: Approx. 1.5 cm (0.6 in)

Original/Reproduction: Original

Country of Origin: USSR (Soviet Union)

Condition

Used, in good vintage condition with signs of time that add to its character. Different wood grains create light and shadow, giving the portrait a warm, organic feel quite different from printed posters. A substantial piece of Soviet propaganda art, it is a strong addition for collectors of USSR history and socialist art, or a distinctive accent for mid-century wall decor.

Shipping

Carefully packed and shipped worldwide from Ukraine with a tracking number.
