The siren has been tested and is fully operational on 220 V with a strong, loud sound. The cast iron body shows natural signs of age, including surface rust, minor surface marks and patina. The original metal nameplate is intact and fully legible. Dimensions and weight are not stated, so please check the photos for the size of this very sturdy industrial piece. Because it runs on 220 V, buyers in 110 V regions will need a suitable transformer.

About This Piece

Sirens of this kind were built to be heard across a factory yard, and they were a familiar part of Soviet industrial sites, where they gave out warning signals. The SS-1 is a straightforward, durable design: a heavy cast housing with an electric drive. Today a working example makes an unusual conversation piece for a workshop, loft or collection of Soviet technology, and it is one of the few collectibles that still does exactly what it was made to do.

A cast iron siren like this is mostly about weight and sound. The thick housing is what gives these industrial horns their rugged look, and the surface rust and patina visible in the photos are part of that character. Collectors of Soviet technology, workshop decor and industrial design often look for pieces that are both authentic and functional, and a tested siren with a legible nameplate checks both boxes.

Shipping

Carefully packed and shipped worldwide from Ukraine with a tracking number.
