This is a large, double-sided commemorative flag of the Soviet Union, made of rich, dark purple velvet with gold fringe on three sides. The flag dates back to 1970 and is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Vladimir Lenin's birth, as evidenced by the gold dates "1870" and "1970" on one side.

Description and Features:

Side 1 (commemorative): In the center is a portrait of Vladimir Lenin, with the gold dates "1870" and "1970" on the sides. Below the portrait are expressive gold Cyrillic inscriptions:

"WORKERS OF ALL COUNTRIES, UNITE!"

"UNDER THE BANNER OF MARXISM-LENINISM, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY—FORWARD TO THE VICTORY OF COMMUNISM!"

Side 2 (organizational side): The embroidered coat of arms of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (UkrSSR) is depicted in the center of this side. Golden letters curved above the coat of arms designate the representative organizations of Zhovti Vody, an important mining and industrial city in Ukraine. The inscription reads:

ZHOLTOVODSKY CITY COMMITTEE OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF UKRAINE, CITY COUNCIL OF WORKERS' DEPUTIES, MANAGEMENT OF THE EASTERN MINING AND PROCESSING PLANT, GROUP COMMITTEE OF TRADE UNION No. 12

The text underneath reads: "TO THE WINNER IN SOCIALIST COMPETITION."

Dimensions: The banner is approximately 170-172 cm wide (excluding fringe) and 130 cm high. The velvet pile creates subtle color variations in light.

Condition:

This banner is in authentic, found, vintage condition, reflecting its age and historical use. It displays obvious signs of age that add to its authenticity as a historical artifact, including a small pinhole at one edge of the velvet, expected fading along some edges, and tangled/thinned fringe typical of decades of storage. The embroidered text is generally clear and full.

This banner is an important element of Soviet history, particularly associated with major industrial and political organizations in Zhovti Vody, Ukraine. It is ideal for collectors of historical flags, Soviet memorabilia, or industrial history.
