About This Piece

The lion head has been a popular motif on door knockers, gate fittings and furniture mounts for centuries, symbolizing strength and protection. Dug relics like this antique bronze lion head mount appeal to metal detecting collectors because the untouched patina tells the story of years spent in the ground. Its solid weight and expressive design also make it a striking piece for restoration projects, a shadow box display, or an antique or dark academia interior. As an antique bronze lion head mount in uncleaned condition, it can be displayed as found or carefully conserved by a new owner.
