About This Piece

The Aurora is the cruiser linked in Russian memory with the revolution of 1917, and she is a recurring motif on Soviet jubilee items. This pin follows the style of a small medal, with a hanging disk and a ribbon bar, and the 30 kopeck price mark on the reverse is a nice detail that shows it was sold in Soviet shops as a commemorative item. It is a good example of the 1977 anniversary series for badge collectors. The combination of a medal-like disk, a ribbon bar and a safety-pin back makes it feel closer to a small award than a simple sticker-style pin, so it looks good in a display frame together with other Soviet anniversary medals and badges.
