Porcelain, ceramics and decor

Most of this category is Soviet porcelain and ceramics. I list figurines from the Polonne and Slaviansk factories, including Ukrainian dancers and the May Night lovers, a Dulevo luster carp, a Moscow 1980 Olympic teapot, and majolica pieces such as a horse figurine and a jug set. Explore Porcelain & Home Decor for these figurines and vases.

Kitchenware, glass and desk pieces

The kitchen side includes cupronickel tea spoons, a ruby glass vase in a metal filigree holder, a garlic press, a dumpling maker and meat cleavers. For tea glass holders (podstakanniki) and glassware, see Kitchenware & Glass. Desk pieces and lighters are in Desk & Smoking Accessories.

What to check

With porcelain, look for the factory mark on the base, glaze crazing, chips, restored fingers or ears, and gilding wear. With glass, look at the rim and base. Cupronickel is a silver-colored alloy, so expect tarnish rather than hallmarks of precious metal. Each listing notes size, marks and flaws. I would rather you see a small chip in the photo than find it later. Fragile items are packed carefully for the trip from Ukraine, and shipping to the US is free.

Soviet decor ranges from folk-art ceramics to mass-produced Olympic souvenirs, and both have collectors. Prices follow condition and maker, not just age.

Frequently asked questions

How can I tell Soviet porcelain from modern copies?

Look at the factory mark and the base. I photograph marks where they are visible and describe any wear, but I do not certify authenticity beyond saying the pieces are original and honestly described.

Is cupronickel the same as silver?

No. Cupronickel is a copper-nickel alloy with a silvery color, and it is not sterling silver. It may tarnish and can be polished gently.

How long does shipping to the US take?

Shipping to the US usually takes 2-4 weeks, and shipping is free; any customs duties or import fees are paid by the buyer.
