About this piece
Vintage boombox Sanyo MW717K with dual cassette decks, 4-band radio and 3-band EQ. Radio works, one deck needs repair. Ships worldwide from Ukraine.
From the seller's notes
This vintage boombox is a Sanyo MW717K portable radio with dual cassette decks, a 4-band radio, a 3-band graphic equalizer and a 4-speaker system. The radio, speakers and equalizer work, while one of the two tape decks is not functional, so it suits a collector who wants a working radio with classic cassette-era styling or a hobbyist ready to repair the second deck.
Item Details
- Type: Portable double cassette radio (boombox)
- Brand: Sanyo
- Model: MW717K
- Radio Bands: FM / MW / SW1 / SW2
- Features: Dual cassette decks, 3-band graphic equalizer (bass, mid, treble), 4-speaker system
- Power: AC 110–127V / 220–250V or DC 9V (6 x “D” size batteries)

Condition
Offered for parts or repair because one cassette deck does not work. Radio: fully functional and picks up stations well across the bands. Audio: the speakers produce clear sound, and the 3-band equalizer adjusts bass, mid and treble as it should. Cassette decks: only one side works – one deck plays tapes as expected, while the other is currently non-functional and likely needs a belt replacement. Cosmetics: good vintage condition with some signs of use and minor surface wear (see photos). The battery compartment is clean and the antenna is intact.
About This Piece
Double-deck boomboxes let owners play and dub tapes on the go while tuning in FM, medium wave and shortwave stations, and they remain icons of cassette culture. The MW717K accepts both 110–127V and 220–250V mains power, which makes it practical to use in the USA as well as abroad. With a new belt in the second deck, this vintage boombox could return to full cassette operation; as it stands, it already works as a radio and makes a great prop for 80s- and 90s-themed photo shoots or videos.
