About this piece

Vintage Soviet dynamic microphone MD-201 made in 1984, with 3-pin DIN plug, original box and price stamp. Sold as-is. Ships worldwide from Ukraine.

From the seller's notes

This Soviet microphone is a dynamic MD-201 (МД-201) made in the USSR in 1984, which is stamped on the casing. It has a compact trapezoidal plastic body with a built-in clip, an original cable and the original 3-pin DIN plug, and it comes in its original, somewhat weathered cardboard box. It is a neat piece for collectors of vintage audio and Soviet electronics.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition in appearance. The plastic body is clean with sharp markings, and there are no visible cracks or major scratches. The original cable is flexible and intact. The cardboard box is original but weathered. Sold as-is for collecting or display: because of its age and the specialized 3-pin connector, it has not been tested with modern equipment.

About This Piece

Microphones like the MD-201 were sold for use with Soviet reel-to-reel and cassette recorders. Using it with modern gear would require an adapter or rewiring, so most buyers will enjoy it as a display piece, a prop for a period set, or a unique addition to a vintage audio collection. The box and price stamp add to its collector interest.

Care & handling

  1. Most Soviet electronics run on 220V — use a step-down converter in the US.
  2. Power up slowly and check before regular use; vintage parts may need service.
  3. Keep dry and away from dust; store with lens and battery covers on.
  4. Remove batteries before long-term storage.
