About This Piece

Soviet publishers produced posters like this to bring their children's and popular science books to schools and libraries, and the artwork often reads as a small illustrated encyclopedia in its own right. The mix of science, history and nature themes reflects the Soviet emphasis on curiosity and self-education for children. Framed, it makes a bright piece of home decor, a gift for book lovers, or a welcome addition to a collection of Soviet-related paper items.
