This piece of vintage Soviet glassware is a cobalt blue glass sugar bowl set in a filigree openwork metal holder with a pedestal base and a matching removable lid. The holder is made of melchior, a silver-plated alloy, with delicate cut-out geometric and floral patterns. It works equally well as a sugar bowl, candy dish, honey pot or trinket box.

Condition
Used, in good vintage condition. The cobalt glass insert is clean with no major chips or cracks. The metal holder and lid show a natural patina, light oxidation and minor scuffs consistent with age and gentle use. The metal can be polished to a high shine if desired, or left as-is to keep its historic character. Please see the detailed photos to evaluate the condition.
About This Piece
Melchior is the name used in the former Soviet Union for cupronickel, a copper-nickel alloy that was widely used for tableware such as tea glass holders, spoons and sugar bowls. Combined with deep cobalt blue glass, it creates a classic look of Soviet era glassware that catches the light beautifully on a dining table. A lovely piece for collectors of vintage glass, cupronickel and Soviet design.

Damages and issues

Exceptions / non-returnable items

European Union 14 day cooling off period
Notwithstanding the above, if the merchandise is being shipped into the European Union, you have the right to cancel or return your order within 14 days, for any reason and without a justification. As above, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, unworn or unused, with tags, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase.
Refunds
We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return, and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
