About This Piece
The cruiser Aurora in Leningrad became one of the best-known symbols of the 1917 revolution, and its silhouette appears on many Soviet commemorative items. A seventieth anniversary was a major date in 1987, and badges, banners and medals were produced for it across the country. Collectors often pair Lenin and Aurora pins with other jubilee issues to show how the same event was marked over the decades. The seventieth anniversary pins of 1987 exist in many designs, so the Lenin and Aurora combination shown here is worth comparing with other jubilee badges in a collection. The dates 1917-1987 make the piece simple to catalog.
