About this piece

Soviet portable record player Lider-306 Mono in an orange briefcase-style case, 33/45/78 rpm. Non-working, for parts or restoration. Ships from Ukraine.

From the seller's notes

This Soviet portable record player is a Lider-306 Mono electrophone, made in the USSR (Saratov) in the 1980s. Its briefcase-style case let music lovers carry a turntable and their vinyl records wherever they went. The unit is currently inoperative and is offered as-is for parts, restoration or display.

Item Details

  • Type: Portable electrophone (record player)
  • Model: Lider-306 Mono
  • Place of Manufacture: Saratov, USSR
  • Era: 1980s

  • Speeds: 33, 45 and 78 rpm
  • Power: Dual mode – 220 V mains or 6 D-size batteries

Condition

Non-working. The record player is sold strictly as-is for parts, restoration or as a decorative prop; it does not currently operate. The battery compartment is clean. The stylus is included, but its condition is unknown and it will likely need replacement for good playback. Cosmetically the unit is in good vintage condition: the plastic case is still bright, with minor scratches and signs of wear, and the knob and latches are intact. The unit is fairly heavy for its size. Please view the high-resolution photos to judge the exact physical condition.

About This Piece

Portable electrophones like the Lider-306 were a familiar sight in Soviet homes, dachas and student gatherings, playing records from the state label Melodiya. Today a Soviet portable record player is a popular project for hobbyists who restore Soviet electronics or fit them with modern Bluetooth modules. As a donor unit, it offers original knobs, tonearm components and a case for repairing another Lider turntable, and its bold orange case makes it an eye-catching prop for film, photo shoots or a retro interior.

  2. Power up slowly and check before regular use; vintage parts may need service.
  3. Keep dry and away from dust; store with lens and battery covers on.
  4. Remove batteries before long-term storage.
