About this piece

Soviet tube record player Molodezhny, brown suitcase design; motor runs, tonearm skips. For parts or repair. Ships worldwide from Ukraine with tracking.

From the seller's notes

This Soviet tube record player is a Molodezhny (Молодежный) portable electrophone, manufactured in the USSR in a classic suitcase design. It combines a turntable and an integrated tube (valve) amplifier in one carry case, finished in brown textured faux leather with cream trim and a light blue tonearm. It is sold for parts or repair, making it a good project for fans of vintage tube audio.

Item Details

  • Type: Portable suitcase turntable / electrophone
  • Model: Molodezhny (Молодежный)
  • Technology: Tube (valve) amplifier
  • Color: Brown, cream, light blue
  • Exterior: Brown textured faux-leather suitcase with cream trim
  • Country of Manufacture: USSR (Soviet Union)

Condition

For parts or repair, sold as-is. The motor is fully operational and the platter spins properly. However, during playback the tonearm skips or gets stuck, likely due to old hardened grease in the mechanism or a worn stylus. The audio output has not been fully tested through the speakers.

Cosmetically, the record player is in nice vintage condition for its age. The suitcase shell is structurally sound, the original latches and hinges are present, and the original carrying handle is intact. There are minor scuffs, dust and light wear typical for an old item. Please inspect all photos carefully, as they form part of the description.

About This Piece

Portable suitcase record players were a familiar sight in Soviet homes, dachas and student dorms, and the Molodezhny name, meaning "youth," reflects that audience. Tube units like this one are sought after by vintage audio enthusiasts for restoration, as a source of original Soviet spare parts, or as an authentic retro prop for interiors, theater and film.
