📌 Product Description
Rare Soviet Space and Aviation Memorabilia: Tabletop Medal for the 70th Anniversary of the Kommunar Plant (1927-1997)
Up for sale is a rare, heavy vintage tabletop medal dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Kommunar Production Association (P.O. Kommunar) in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
Founded in 1927 as a labor commune under the leadership of renowned educator Anton Makarenko, the plant later became a cornerstone of the Soviet space program, producing onboard control systems for rockets, launch vehicles, and spacecraft (including the famous Molniya and Soyuz programs), as well as complex electronics and components for Airplanes.
Design details:
Obverse: A stylized image of a rocket explosion. The display depicts the silhouette of an airplane taking off from Earth toward the stars, and the number "70" adorned with an oak leaf. Also featured is the inscription: "P.O. "KOMMUNAR" KHARKIV".
Reverse: A rocket and the Sputnik satellite orbiting the Earth are depicted, along with the famous quote by A.S. Makarenko: "Years and changes will pass, and a new generation of Communards will continue the work we began." The inscription also notes significant dates: 1927–1997.
