About this piece

Vintage Soviet alarm clock Elektronika-01 in a glazed ceramic owl case with green VFD display, dated June 1990. Ships worldwide from Ukraine with tracking.

From the seller's notes

This vintage Soviet alarm clock is an Elektronika-01 digital clock housed in a charming glazed ceramic owl-shaped body, produced in June 1990, shortly before the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The owl's eyes serve as the display, glowing with a nostalgic bright green VFD (vacuum fluorescent display) light. A delightful mix of late Soviet engineering and folk-style ceramic decor.

About This Piece

The clock depicts a mother owl with a baby owlet, finished in a classic brown glaze, so it looks like a traditional ceramic souvenir until the eyes light up. Elektronika was the main Soviet brand for consumer electronics, and VFD clocks with their soft green glow are a favorite among collectors of Soviet watches and clocks. With its original label still attached, this piece is well documented and full of late-USSR charm.
