About This Piece
Isaak Brodsky was one of the leading painters of official Soviet art, best known for his portraits of Lenin. Volkhovstroy, the Volkhov hydroelectric plant, was one of the first major projects of the GOELRO electrification plan, which Lenin famously summed up as “Communism is Soviet power plus the electrification of the whole country.” Pairing the leader with a power station under construction made the painting a natural choice for mass reproduction.
At well over a meter tall, this vintage Soviet Lenin poster makes a commanding display piece for collectors of Soviet propaganda art and Lenin imagery.
