About This Piece
The date on the back matches the day Gagarin orbited the Earth, so cards like this one were among the first items issued to mark the flight. They were produced as printed souvenirs. The card is a good fit for collections of the space race, Soviet memorabilia or vintage postcards. The caption on the front is printed in Russian and gives his titles in full, which makes the card a handy reference piece as well as a keepsake. Paper items like this should be stored flat, away from sunlight and damp.
