About this piece

Balda Baldini folding camera, late 1930s German 35mm with E. Ludwig Meritar 50mm f/2.9 lens and Prontor II shutter. Sold as-is. Ships worldwide.

From the seller's notes

This Balda Baldini folding camera is a pre-war German 35mm folder from the late 1930s, the 35mm version of Balda's Baldax folding camera. It is very compact when closed and is fitted with an E. Ludwig Meritar 1:2.9 f=50mm triplet lens in a Prontor II shutter.

Condition

The original leatherette shows age-appropriate wear but is mostly intact, and the "Baldini" embossing is visible. The bellows appear good but have not been tested for light tightness. The shutter works on all speeds, though accuracy is not guaranteed at its age. Overall functionality is unknown, so the camera is sold as-is. Please review all photos carefully.

About This Piece

Folding 35mm cameras like the Baldini were designed to slip into a pocket, with the lens and shutter retracting behind a front door on bellows. The Meritar triplet was a popular lens of the period and gives a classic vintage rendering. For collectors of German photographica or anyone building a set of pre-war folders, the Baldini is an interesting compact example to display or restore.
