About this piece

Meteor-S 22-89mm f/2.4 Soviet zoom lens by KMZ with built-in electric motors, clean glass, serial 870546. Sold as-is. Ships worldwide from Ukraine.

From the seller's notes

This Meteor-S is a Soviet zoom lens covering 22-89 mm at a maximum aperture of f/2.4, built with integrated electric motors on a robust metal chassis. It is not a standard consumer lens but a specialized technical or cine-type lens, and the front carries the KMZ (Krasnogorsk) factory logo. The focal range and speed are similar to those of the Meteor zooms used on 16mm Soviet film cameras such as the Krasnogorsk-3.

It is sold strictly as-is, for parts, restoration or DIY projects.

About This Piece

Motorized lenses like this were designed for technical filming and similar specialist uses rather than family photography, which makes them an interesting object for collectors of Soviet optics. Film makers and hobbyists also look at Soviet zooms as a base for adapting to modern mirrorless camera systems or for building a custom cinema zoom. Please review all of the photos carefully, as they are part of the description.

  2. Power up slowly and check before regular use; vintage parts may need service.
  3. Keep dry and away from dust; store with lens and battery covers on.
  4. Remove batteries before long-term storage.
