This Soviet banner is a challenge banner (переходящее знамя) made in 1982 for the 60th anniversary of the USSR. It is made of heavy red silk and satin blend with golden yellow fringe on three sides, and it carries an embroidered portrait of Vladimir Lenin on the front and the State Emblem of the USSR on the reverse. Banners like this were handed to labor collectives for outstanding results in the so-called Socialist Competition.

Condition
Excellent vintage condition. The red color is still vibrant and the embroidery is well preserved. There are no major tears or heavy stains, only minor signs of age and storage. Please see the high-resolution photos for the exact condition.
About This Piece
A challenge banner stayed with a factory, farm or workshop team for as long as it kept up its results, and could then pass to another team, which is where the name “transferable” or “challenge” comes from. The 60th anniversary of the USSR in 1982 was marked with a wide range of commemorative items, and this banner combines the anniversary with the typical Soviet slogans of the time. It is a striking wall piece for collectors of Soviet propaganda, political memorabilia and Cold War history.

How to return an item

- I will confirm the return and reply with instructions. Items sent back without contacting me first cannot be accepted.
- The item must be returned in the same condition you received it, with all parts, accessories and original packaging that came with it.
- Return shipping is paid by the buyer. Please use a tracked shipping service and pack the item carefully — vintage pieces are fragile, and I can't refund items damaged on the way back.
