About this piece
Armenian SSR flag, the Soviet flag with blue stripe and gold hammer and sickle, 67 x 35 in (170 x 90 cm). Ships worldwide from Ukraine with tracking.
From the seller's notes
This Soviet flag with blue stripe is an authentic vintage flag of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. The design served as the official state flag of Armenia within the USSR from 1952 until 1990: a red field with a horizontal blue stripe in the middle, split by a thin white stripe, and the gold hammer and sickle topped with a five-pointed red star in the upper left corner.
Item Details
- Type: Republic flag
- Republic: Armenian SSR (Haykakan SSR)
- Design: Red field, horizontal blue stripe with a thin white stripe, gold hammer and sickle under a red five-pointed star
- Material: Mixed fabric (likely cotton/polyester blend or calico)
- Size: 67 x 35 in (approx. 170 x 90 cm)
- Mounting: Sleeve for a flagpole
- Era: 1950s–1980s
- Country of Manufacture: USSR
Condition
Good vintage condition with authentic patina. The fabric shows signs of age and storage, including light staining and minor fraying. There are small holes and wear spots (shown in a close-up photo) and some light discoloration in the white stripe area. The flag can be flown from a pole using its sleeve or pinned for wall display.
About This Piece
Each Soviet republic used its own variant of the red Soviet state flag, distinguished by added stripes or colors, and the blue stripe identified Armenia. Republic flags are far less common than the standard USSR flag, which makes this one a great find for collectors of Soviet history, Cold War memorabilia, or anyone interested in Armenian heritage.
