From the seller's notes

This Soviet Morse key is a straight telegraph key of the KM type, manufactured in the USSR in roughly 1960-1980. Straight keys of this kind were a staple of Soviet military communications and of amateur radio training (DOSAAF) in the mid- to late 20th century. The key carries no maker's mark and was produced by a Soviet state plant.

About This Piece

Before digital communications, Soviet radio operators trained in Morse code on straight keys like this one, in military units and in DOSAAF radio clubs alike. The sturdy metal lever and the iconic rimmed handle were designed for comfortable, long sessions, while the adjustment screws let the operator tune the feel of the key. Today a Soviet Morse key is collected by radio amateurs, Cold War history enthusiasts and collectors of Soviet militaria, and it also works well as a piece of industrial decor.
