From the seller's notes

This Soviet porcelain figurine shows a girl in traditional Ukrainian dress (vyshyvanka) tenderly holding a daisy, the classic "he loves me, he loves me not" folk scene. It was made at the Polonne Art Ceramics Factory in Ukraine, USSR, in the 1960s-70s. The glazed porcelain is hand-painted with red and yellow embroidery patterns on the sleeves and hem.

About This Piece

Polonne, in western Ukraine, is one of the best-known Soviet porcelain makers, and its figurines of folk characters and everyday scenes are widely collected today. The daisy-picking girl is a favorite romantic motif, and the embroidered blouse and dress reflect Ukrainian folk dress. A figurine with the factory mark, intact fingers and undamaged flower is a good display piece for porcelain collectors and for anyone interested in Ukrainian folk art.
