About this piece

Original Soviet street sign, circa 1950s: white enamel steel address plaque for Ufimskaya Street, house no. 6, with patina. Ships worldwide from Ukraine.

From the seller's notes

This Soviet street sign is an original enamel address plaque from around the 1950s, marked with the street name “Ufimskaya Street” and the house number 6. Made of steel with a white enamel coating and black stenciled lettering, it is a genuine salvaged piece of Soviet urban history, not a reproduction. Streets named Ufimskaya can be found in a number of post-Soviet cities, which makes this plaque a classic example of Soviet municipal design.

About This Piece

Enamel address plaques like this one were once fixed to residential buildings across Soviet cities, and each surviving sign carries a small piece of everyday urban life from the mid-20th century. Today they are sought after by collectors of Soviet and Cold War memorabilia, and they work equally well as a statement piece in industrial or loft-style interiors, as a gift for history enthusiasts, or as an authentic prop for photo and film studios. As a vintage Soviet street sign with its original lettering and honest wear, it brings a real sense of the period to any wall.
