About This Piece
Colored glass set in a metal frame was a popular way to dress up home interiors in Soviet apartments, where decorative objects were prized. The contrast of deep red glass against bright metal is at its best when light passes through the glass. The stag in a forest scene is a traditional motif, and the vase suits collectors of Soviet design and mid-century art glass.
With a height of about 23 cm (9 in), the vase is easy to place on a shelf, mantel or side table. It works as a standalone decoration, and it looks especially good when daylight or a lamp shines through the red glass.
