About This Piece
The Ukrainian SSR was one of the republics of the Soviet Union, and republic anniversaries were marked with their own badges and publications. A pin that celebrates fifty years of Soviet Ukraine is therefore both a USSR item and a regional one, and it fits well in a collection organized by republic. Enamel work and maker marks are the usual points of interest when comparing similar pins. Collectors of republic-themed items sometimes build sets covering the Soviet republics one by one, and a Ukrainian SSR anniversary pin is a natural piece for that kind of project. The photographs show the design and the reverse marking, so you can check them against reference sources.
