Condition
Authentic, found vintage condition that shows its age. There is a fold line down the middle on both sides, some fading along the edges, pilling and surface wear on the velvet, a distinct small hole or pinhole near one edge and a few other pinholes. The fringe is thinned, tangled and frayed in places, with some loose strands. The embroidered text is generally clear and complete. Please examine all of the photos.
About This Piece
The reverse side shows that the banner was awarded to a winner in a socialist competition by local Party, city, factory and trade union bodies in Zhovti Vody, a city in Ukraine known for uranium mining. That makes the flag a record of a specific local industrial history as well as a Lenin anniversary piece. It is a large item for collectors of historical flags, Soviet memorabilia and industrial history.
