About This Piece

Cameras like the Vilia-Auto show how Soviet makers moved from fully manual designs to automatic exposure in the 1970s and 1980s. Its sliding lens doors and programmed exposure set it apart from the simpler scale-focus compacts of the period. It is a neat addition for collectors who like to follow the development of Soviet 35mm cameras. The original description notes that the camera is a souvenir vintage item for a collection, so treat it as a display piece first and a shooter second.
