About this piece
Vintage Soviet toy bus Selena by Kalibr, Minsk: futuristic plastic design from the 1970s–80s, motor not working, sold as-is. Ships worldwide from Ukraine.
From the seller's notes
This vintage Soviet toy bus is the “Selena” (Селена), made by the Kalibr factory in Minsk in the 1970s–80s. The plastic body has a sleek, futuristic “bus of the future” look that reflects the Space Age taste of Soviet design. The Cyrillic «Селена» logo is on the front bumper and the red rooftop elements are intact.
Item Details
- Type: Toy bus, collectible
- Model: Selena (Селена)
- Maker: Kalibr, Minsk
- Era: 1970s–1980s
- Material: Plastic
- Design: Futuristic / Space Age
- Markings: «Селена» logo on the front bumper
- Country of Manufacture: USSR
Condition
The body is in good vintage condition for its age, and the plastic has a nice aged patina. The distinctive red rooftop elements and the front bumper logo are still in place. The motor mechanism does not work: the motor does not engage and the wheel mechanism is not functioning. Sold as-is for parts, restoration or display. Please see the photos for the exact cosmetic condition. The seller describes the toy as a good project for a restorer who wants to bring the mechanism back to life.
About This Piece
Plastic toys with a space-influenced look appeared in the Soviet Union in the later decades of the period, and the Selena is a typical example of that taste. It is a good candidate for a restorer who enjoys a small mechanical project, and it also makes a striking shelf piece for collectors of Soviet toys and Eastern European technical toys.
