About this piece
Soviet propaganda art: original wood marquetry portrait of Vladimir Lenin, inlaid veneers, approx. 40 x 38 cm (15.7 in). Ships worldwide from Ukraine.
From the seller's notes
This piece of Soviet propaganda art is an original handcrafted portrait of Vladimir Lenin made in the marquetry (intarsia) technique. It is not a painting: the image is assembled from various shades and textures of natural wood veneers inlaid into a solid wooden base. The stylized, high-contrast profile of Lenin is typical of 1960s–70s Soviet monumental art.

About This Piece
Portraits of Lenin were a constant presence in Soviet offices and homes, and marquetry versions like this one show how the official image was translated into decorative craft. Different wood grains create light and shadow, giving the portrait a warm, organic feel quite different from printed posters. A substantial piece of Soviet propaganda art, it is a strong addition for collectors of USSR history and socialist art, or a distinctive accent for mid-century wall decor.
