About This Piece
The Border Guards were a branch of the Soviet armed forces under the jurisdiction of the KGB, responsible for the long frontiers of the USSR. This badge was awarded for excellence in guarding the state borders and is a piece of Cold War history. It suits collectors of militaria and anyone who wants to add a badge to a uniform display or a showcase. Details such as the AK-47 rifle, the green border post and the map of the USSR are all visible on the front design, which helps identify the badge quickly. A screw back was commonly used for badges worn on a uniform, and it keeps the insignia flat and secure on fabric.
