About This Piece
The USSR adopted a new constitution in 1977, often called the Brezhnev constitution, and the event was marked with posters, stamps and pins. A badge with the month and year on it is useful for dating a collection. Red enamel and CCCP lettering are typical of Soviet commemorative design, which makes this pin easy to place among other items of the late 1970s. Because both the month and year are part of the design, this pin is easy to date and to catalog. Collectors who focus on political milestones often keep a small set of such pins in order, from the 1970s to the late 1980s.
