About This Piece
Flashes like the Luch-M were used by both professional and amateur photographers in the USSR. Today they interest collectors of Soviet photographic equipment and film photographers who want a period-accurate lighting setup, and they also make good props for historical photography or film projects. A pistol-grip flash like this one is held in one hand while the camera is operated with the other, a layout that was common for portable flashes of the period. Its sync cord connection allows it to be used with many vintage cameras.
