About This Piece
Moscow was the political and cultural center of the Soviet Union, and its emblems were popular on visitor souvenirs and commemorative pins. The combination of a star and a red flag is typical of Soviet symbolism and appears on many badges of the period. A Moscow enamel badge like this is a compact way to represent the capital in a themed collection. The golden star and red flag are the main decorative elements, and they stand out against the enamel fields. Collectors of Soviet city badges often search for Moscow pins specifically, so a medallion-type example is a useful addition to a regional display.
