About this piece
Vintage Soviet porcelain figurine of a Caucasian Djigit in burka by the Zmiyev factory, gilded and hand-painted, 4.5 in tall. Ships worldwide from Ukraine.
From the seller's notes
This Soviet porcelain figurine depicts a Caucasian Djigit, a skilled horseman or highlander, made at the Zmiyev (Zmiiv) Porcelain Factory in Ukraine during the Soviet era. He wears the iconic burka, a heavy felt cloak with broad squared shoulders, and a tall hat. The minimalist mid-century style is finished with hand-painted details and gold accents.

About This Piece
Caucasian folk themes were a favorite subject in Soviet porcelain art, and compact figures like this one were produced by several factories. The blue factory mark identifies this piece as Zmiyev production, which helps collectors of Soviet porcelain place it, and its small size suits a shelf or display cabinet.
