About this piece
Original large Soviet propaganda poster for the XXVII CPSU Congress, 1986, by V. Suryaninov, 119 x 71 cm. Ships worldwide from Ukraine with tracking.
From the seller's notes
This Soviet propaganda poster was issued for the XXVII Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, held in 1986. It is a large-format original print, not a reproduction, drawn in a bold red and white Socialist Realist palette by the artist V. Suryaninov with verses by V. Demidov. A dated late-Soviet political poster, it is a striking piece for collectors of Cold War history and propaganda graphics.

About This Piece
Party congresses were major set-piece events in Soviet political life, and printed posters were produced in large numbers to mark them and to carry the official message into factories, offices and public spaces. This one dates from 1986, in the early Perestroika years, and combines a portrait-style figure, Kremlin architecture and rhyming verses in the classic Socialist Realist manner. At roughly four feet tall it makes a bold wall display, and the dated congress subject makes it easy to place for anyone building a collection of Soviet political posters.
