About this piece

Soviet FED Etude slide projector with Triplet-3 2.8/80 lens, 35mm, box, passport, manual and spare bulb, tested and working. Ships worldwide from Ukraine.

From the seller's notes

This Soviet slide projector is the FED Etude (Этюд), made by the FED plant in Kharkiv, USSR, in the 1970s. It has a Triplet-3 (T-3) 2.8/80 lens, works with 24 x 36 mm (35mm) slides and filmstrips, and has been tested: the lamp lights up and the projection is sharp. It comes as a full set in its factory box with passport and manual.

Used, tested and fully working. The lamp lights up and the projection is sharp and bright, with a clear lens. The cosmetic condition is great for its age, with minimal signs of use, and the cardboard box is in good condition. This is a 220V projector, so US buyers will need a step-up transformer and a plug adapter.

About This Piece

FED, from Kharkiv, was best known for its cameras, and its projectors were part of the same optical tradition. Home slide shows were a common way to share travel and family photos in the USSR, and compact projectors like the Etude, with a simple hammer-tone body, were made for that purpose. A complete set with the original box, a passport with the serial number and the OTK quality slip is the kind of package collectors of Soviet optics and analog photography gear appreciate.

Care & handling

  1. Most Soviet electronics run on 220V — use a step-down converter in the US.
  2. Power up slowly and check before regular use; vintage parts may need service.
  3. Keep dry and away from dust; store with lens and battery covers on.
  4. Remove batteries before long-term storage.
