About This Piece

The RAF-977 "Latvia" minibus, built in Riga, was a familiar sight across the Soviet Union and served as an ambulance, a militia van and a route taxi. Tinplate toy versions in service liveries were popular with Soviet children and are now sought after by collectors of vintage tinplate automotive toys. This Soviet tin toy pair makes a colorful addition to any Russian or Eastern European toy collection. Displayed side by side, the two service liveries show how Soviet toy makers mirrored real vehicles of the era.
